DS3 just came out today. I played for a few hours, cleared the first area. I'm really liking it so far.

im not a big fan of RPG's (because my attention span for games doesn't lend itself to finishing games)

is the gameplay fun enough to warrant buying it? (or one of the earlier iterations) I've regretted buying almost every game ive bought recently unless its something I can play for half an hour then go do something else. but everyone has talked up this series so much im interested.

the difficulty factor isnt one im worried about, most of the games I play I am either bad at, or are hard games to begin with... I dont rage quit because things are too hard. however, will I be able to get anywhere in the games only playing for an hour once every 2 weeks? I wont bother if there is a 100% chance I cant finish it

Maybe, just depends on how good you are at it.

If you are crap you can easily bang your head on it for an hour and not get anywhere.

I think my first DS1 playthrough took me 70+ hours, without the DLC, and with some use of guides. Right now, I'm almost 20 hours into DS3 and I feel like I'm only a quarter of the way through. If you play an hour every two weeks, it'll probably take you even longer than me, who kinda binges.

Like LP said, you can struggle and die over and over for an hour and make little to no apparent progress. If you want to make consistent progress, I'd recommend getting summoning other players to help you get through new areas and beat bosses.

For someone who is bad at games (like me), Dark Souls is rock hard.  Still, there's something captivating about the world that makes me want to keep playing even though it takes me forever and I never end up getting far.  DS3 is no exception.

Also, the Steam controller works great for this game!
