Eve Online goes free to play

-ish. More like an infinite free trial

Don't know how many of you guys have tried Eve before, but now you have a lot more room to learn the game before going all the way in on it.

I've played it twice now. Once when I was younger for a few months, then again for a week or so when NT came on needing help for his guild.

The game is kind of fun, but it gets really repetitive really quickly and then I realized that the entire time I was playing it was just grinding hoping that the game would get fun later.

that is also my experiance of the game, I only played for about 3 days out of a 7 day trial and I didnt really enjoy any aspect of the game

I REALLY dont like that to do stuff I have to go away for 12 hours. its ok on a game like ogame where you can hop on for 5 minutes and start whatever needs to be started, but not on a game where I am actually actively playing.

On the plus side, they changed it a few months back so you start with more skill points and don't need to wait for the very basic stuff to train.

They also added "Opportunities" which is kind of a guided tutorial thingy that gives you some starting cash.

Plus I could guide you guys. I actually have a secondary combat-trained character on my second account so we could run around declaring war on PvE corporations or hunt people in low-security space.

I find reading about EVE to be pretty fun, but I've never really been enticed to play it.  It's just not my cup of tea as someone who has never been interested in long-term progression systems.  That said, EVE provides some very interesting insights into the nature of communities, economies, politics, and even war. Humans be crazy.

That seems to be the general perspective. And it can be quite hard to get into, especially if you're just flying solo.

Once you catch the bug, though, there's no going back... Shocked
